In both DANCIN' and FOSSE, it seems Bob Fosse (and whoever else made decisions on the numbers to be included) veered away from presenting anything Gwen Verdon had danced in her Fosse-choreographed shows (other than "Hot Honey Rag" which by that time had had numerous Roxies dancing it). They had the "Big Spender" number in FOSSE, but Verdon didn't dance in that number in SWEET CHARITY. I would have loved to have seen some of Verdon's dances included, but perhaps he didn't want to put any performer in the situation where they would be compared directly to Verdon's original performance. Of course, Debbie Allen and others had been in productions of SWEET CHARITY (guided by both Fosse and Verdon in Allen's case), but numbers out of the original's context, maybe they wanted to avoid comparisons to Verdon. Perhaps someone involved in those productions might have further information. Maybe the American Dance Machine has Labanotation of the choreography for some of these dances; they've put on some excellent performances from various famous choreographers.
