She wasn't snubbed. She was not nominated. That's not automatically the same thing, including for the lead of a new musical that got a lot of other nominations.
And frankly, she wasn't because the combination of the role as written in this show, and her performance in the role, was not quite strong enough or perhaps not quite impactful enough to secure one of the 5 slots for nominations of Best Lead Actresses in Musicals this season *over* the 5 who did. (and personally I don't even think this was a question of "there were 6 equally incredible undeniable performances by female leads this season, but only 5 could get through to a nom.")
I don't think that many people are shocked by her lack of acting nomination. Even if you loved the show and her in it... who would be un-nominated for the slot to open up? |
