| Highly recommend. All the acting is powerful and rivetting. The story is educational, but the script by Peter Morgan has the finesse and ellipses that we’ve come to expect from him for his THE CROWN. It has some resemblance to ARTURO UI but its story and perspective are much more complex. The design and staging are excellent. It’s a smart man’s play (but not tedious and unfocussed as other such ‘documentary-like’ plays, like LEOPOLDSTADT and WOLF HALL the play were.) No wasted motion and crackles with electricity and elan. It should be good for people who want to hate on Putin, but also for people who want to learn how business and financiers threatened to swallow Russian politics whole (which may be what we’re seeing here now). |
