Our Theater Week in NYC

Thursday 5/2 - The Heart of Rock and Roll. Good seats from the TKTS booth, 6th row Center Orchestra. Fun show, lots of good performances. Interesting plot twist at the end. It won't go down as an all time great theatre piece, but it sure was FUN!

Friday 5/3 - Water for Elephants. An entertaining night because of all the acrobatic circus performances. But the plot was confusing at times, I don't think this will go down as an all time classic either. But it did make me want to read the book and see the movie. Don't expect this one to show up at your local community theater because of all the circus skills required to mount the production.

Saturday 5/4 - NY Philharmonic. Magnificent!

Sunday 5/5 - Cabaret - Sat in the mezzanine and it was COLD up there! There have been lots of posts about the merits of this production, so I won't comment on that, other than to say that I missed the emotional gut punch of the ending that the Alan Cumming version had. But overall, I did enjoy it.

Monday 5/6 - Jim Caruso's Cast Party at Birdland. Lots of fun, the typical mixture of great performers and up & coming performers, but everyone gave it their all. If you've never seen it, you have to go at least once.

Tuesday 5/7 - The Lineup with Susie Mosher at Birdland. Similar concept to Jim Caruso's cast party. Next time I'll probably choose one or the other, there's no need to
do both of them on consecutive nights.

Wednesday 5/8 Matinee. Merrily We Roll Along. All three principals were in. Every bit as good as you've heard. Don't miss it!
