My memories are about the unavoidable root-for imbalance in Hare's play. Nighy, as the anti (Iraq) war force of antagonism had the New York audience with him from the start, as he punctured the Moore academic with pithy arguments, humanitarian and otherwise. Moore, playing a cool, cool conservative clinging to an intellectual argument in support of the invasion and Bush's policy, was nevertheless the ostensible protagonist; I thought she was fine. The three other characters (including Rutina Wesley who'd later star on True Blood) didn't much register, though they were both successful. Scott was her younger Welsh boyfriend. It's safe to say: Nighy walked away with the zeitgeist and thus the play's sociopolitical - and emotional - impact.
