The Sound of Music revival in the 90s: As the first act was ending, there was definitely something going on in the pit. It seems the conductor may have fainted. My young nieces were temporarily excited when it was announced that the second act would be conducted by Steven Tyler. (But not *that Steven Tyler.)

La Boheme at the Met: Normally, between the first and second scene, the set goes from being the garret to a two-story town square in minutes. Instead, we had an additional 40 minute intermission.

West Side Story in DC: After one of the rumbles, there are red lights flashing and police sirens; however, we also had announcements over the speakers. Apparently something set off the fire alarm, and we all had to leave the building.

Shipwreck in DC: There's a big effect in the middle of the show. Again a fire alarm went off and we had to leave the building.

Wet Brain, at Playwrights: A scene takes place on (I think) the top of the roof, but the roof is directly facing the audience. Something happened, the cast had to leave the set, so we all saw how they were able to make the perspective seem like they were all lying on the roof.
